No. 18 men's tennis falls 6-3 to No. 14 UC San Diego

HILO, Hawaii (Feb. 15, 2014) - In its first matchup of ranked teams, the No. 18 BYU-Hawaii men's tennis team fell 6-3 in a match against No. 14 UC San Diego.

The Seasiders took one doubles match with first doubles partners Martin Chojnacki and Yevhen Zahkarov defeating Kona Luu and Max Jiganti 8-3.

Peng Dai and Wei-Feng Lee fell 9-7 in a close one and Ibrahim Karmadzhe and Taylor De Hoyas lost 8-4 in doubles.

Zakharov and Chojnacki picked up the Seasiders' singles wins in the first and second singles. Zakharov came out on top 3-6, 7-6 (4) and 10-5 to win a tough won and Chojnacki retired his opponent 6-4, 6-2.

BYU-Hawaii will play five matches on a California road trip starting Feb. 22 against Hope International in Los Angeles.
