LAIE, Hawaii – BYU-Hawaii men's soccer will face Hawaii Pacific University for a conference matchup at 12:30 p.m. HST at Waipio Soccer Complex Field 5.
BYU-Hawaii and Hawaii Pacific have both had successful seasons so far as the Seasiders have a PacWest record of 3-1 and are ranked third while the Sharks have gone 2-0-1 and are ranked fourth.
The last time the two teams met in a nonconference match, it ended in a 2-2 tie. Jake McRae scored both of BYU-Hawaii's goals while Sven Koenig and Josiah Darland scored for the Sharks. Seasider keeper Jaden Epplette had seven saves compared to Sharks' Chandler Schur with one. BYU-Hawaii recorded a total of three shots on goal compared to Hawaii Pacific's nine.
This will be the Seasiders' first home conference game as they return from a 2-1 road trip to California. Most recently, they beat Chaminade 2-0 featuring one goal each from Jessy Hein and Braden Bailey. Bailey is currently a leader for BYU-Hawaii in total goals this season, tying McRae with six. Goalkeeper Einar Johnson recorded his third win on a shutout, blocking both the Silverswords' shots on goal.
Hawaii Pacific most recently played Hawai'i Hilo, which resulted in a 4-4 tie. Koenig had three of the Shark's four goals, totaling 11 for the season, while Erik Kemsies scored the remaining goal.
