IRVINE, Calif. – BYU-Hawaii men's soccer was voted sixth in the PacWest preseason coach's poll, while the women were selected to finish 11th.
The Seasider men finished the 2014 season with six All-PacWest honors and a 6-6-5 overall record, a mark they hope to surpass this year.
Returning to the field this season is senior Abraham Garcia who started all 17 games last year on the back line that allowed the third fewest goals in the PacWest. Senior Matthew Roberts played in 11 games and also added one assist during the 2014 campaign. Joining his teammates again is Pawel Dregan who started 14 of the 17 games he played last year and finished with two assists and four goals.
BYU-Hawaii women's soccer will look to improve on its 4-13 record last season. The Lady Seasiders competed in every game, but came out on the wrong side of 10 games decided by one goal last season.
Sophomore Kate Orchard will be returning to the team after starting eight games and scoring three goals last season. Tess Hobbs proved to be a beneficial player with two assists and two goals in the 17 games she played. Also returning to the field is Rebekah McCarthy who contributed one assist and two goals in 2014. After one goal and one assist, Caitlin Wadley will rejoin her teammates. Senior Tiffani Rice will finish her career with the Seasiders this season.
