LAIE, Hawaii (Nov. 6, 2013) - After 110 minutes of play the BYU-Hawaii men's soccer team and Hawaii Pacific wrapped up a 0-0 draw in a double overtime match.
The Seasiders (8-3-4, 6-2-3) and the Sea Warrors (8-5-3, 6-2-3) engaged in a chippy battle from start to finish. Both teams were anxious to add more points to their resume but had to settle for the scoreless tie.
BYU-Hawaii had plenty of chances with five shots on goal but were under pressure from HPU as the Sea Warriors had six shots on goal of their own. Strong back line play from defenders Gabriel Hatton, Matthew Rider, Landon Southwick and David Urbina kept the visiting team in check while Chris Pineda posted another scoreless day with six saves.
Colby Bauer had a few good looks in the second overtime period but couldn't get any to go.
Seven yellow cards and two reds between both teams during the match made for a heated battle down to the wire.
Moving on from the draw the Seasiders travel to Hilo for the final regular season match on Saturday at 3 p.m.
