SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Oct. 1, 2013) – The BYU-Hawaii men's soccer team tied Point Loma 0-0 in double-overtime on Tuesday.
"We had our opportunities but just couldn't put one in the back of the net," head coach Mard Davis said. "We have to be able to put them away. Winning teams are able to do that and we need to sharpen up."
BYU-Hawaii (2-3-2, 0-2-1) was outshot 20-12 but the Seasider defense and goalkeeper Chris Pineda got their job done keeping Point Loma out of the net.
Pineda had seven saves for the match and made play-after-play to prevent Point Loma (4-3-2, 2-0-2) from getting on the board. Brady Berry was also moved to the backfield to fill in and played well to add a boost to the defense.
Mike Moreno had four shots to lead the team while Colby Bauer and Cam Neeley had two apiece.
Both overtimes got extremely physical with nine fouls and three yellow cards between both teams.
BYU-Hawaii will take on Dixie State University on Thursday in St. George, Utah at 7:30 p.m. MT.
