STOCKTON, Calif. – No. 9/10 BYU-Hawaii moved up ten spots after a strong second round Tuesday at the NCAA Division II Men's West/South Central Regional at Brookside Country Club.
The Seasiders had a 10-under 278 in the second round to move to 8 under for the tournament and tie for eighth place. No. 14 Cal Baptist leads at 29 under par, and BYU-Hawaii trails fifth place Stanislaus State by six strokes for the final qualifying position to the NCAA championships.
Nicolas Herrera continued his strong play with another 5-under 67 on day two of regionals, including four birdies on the front nine. He is currently tied for third overall on the leaderboard at 10 under par.
Federico Clausen finished the day tying for 41st place overall after a 3-under 69 moved him to 2 under for the tournament. Jacob Godfrey shot a 4-under 68 with the help of six birdies to move to 1 over par and move up to 60th on the individual leader board.
Dalton Stanger ended the day shooting 2-over 74 with two birdies putting him tied for 78th place at 4 over through 36 holes. Alex Stucle is currently tied for 96th place overall at 7 over par.
BYU-Hawaii will look to make up the ground necessary to qualify for the NCAA Championships in the final round Wednesday with tee times beginning at noon PDT. Live stats will be available online.
