KAHUKU, Hawaii – No 11/13 BYU-Hawaii men's golf finished day one of the PacWest Men's Golf Championships in second place at the Fazio course at Turtle Bay resort in Hawaii.
The Seasiders finished with a 6-under 282 and were two strokes behind Holy Names for the team lead. No. 16 California Baptist was in third place at 2 over par.
Senior Nicolas Herrera led the Seasiders and tied for third overall shooting 3-under 69 powered by five birdies. Sophomore Jacob Godfrey and junior Dalton Stanger both shot 2-under 70 tying for sixth place Godfrey finished with four birdies and Stanger had six in the opening round.
Senior Federico Clausen ended the day with two birdies and a score of 1-over 73 to finish in 15th on the individual leaderboard. Junior Alex Stulce tied for 22nd shooting 2-over 74 with three birdies.
BYU-Hawaii will tee off its second round Tuesday at 8:36 a.m. HST at the Fazio Course. Live stats will be available online.
