Herrera and Godfrey set records at Hawaii Challenge

KAHUKU, Hawaii – Nicolas Herrera and Jacob Godfrey broke records to put No. 12/14 BYU-Hawaii men's golf atop the leaderboard at the Hawaii Challenge at the Turtle Bay Fazio Course.

The Seasiders set a team single round record of 16-under 272 to take a 15 stroke lead over Hawaii Pacific who finished with a round of 1 under par. Hawaii Hilo was 2 over on the first day and Chaminade rounded out the field at 19 over.

Herrera and Godfrey each posted rounds of 10-under-par 62 to break the previous single round record at BYU-Hawaii. Herrera set the previous record of 8 under earlier this season at the Visit Stockton Cactus Thaw.

Dalton Stanger, Alex Stulce and Federico Clausen all posted rounds of 2-over 74 to tie for 11th on the individual leaderboard.

BYU-Hawaii will tee off the final round tomorrow at 11 a.m. HST at the Fazio Course.
