Stanger helps Seasiders to seventh place finish in first round

STOCKTON, Calif. – Dalton Stanger finished even par in the first round of Visit Stockton Cactus Thaw and BYU-Hawaii men's golf finished the day tied for seventh at the Brookside Country Club.

BYU-Hawaii finished with a team score of 3-over 291 to tie with Sonoma State and Western Washington. Dominican leads the tournament at 6 under, while California Baptist and Colorado Christian are tied for second at 2 under par.

Stanger was 2 under on the front nine and finished tied for 23rd with an opening round of 72.  Sophomore Jacob Godfrey and seniors Alex Stulce and Federico Clausen all shot a 1-over 73 to tie for 38th. Nicolas Herrera added a 3-over 75 to finish the day tied for 65th.

BYU-Hawaii will be back in action tomorrow on the Brookside Country Club for the final 18 holes.
