TURTLE BAY, Hawaii – Seniors Nicolas Herrera and Alex Stulce shot under par to lead BYU-Hawaii men's golf to a first-place finish Thursday in the final round of the BYU-Hawaii Tri-Match on the Arnold Palmer Course at Turtle Bay Resort.
Sophomore Jacob Godfrey ended with the lowest score of 3-under 141, ending even par on the second day of competition. The Seasiders had four of the five lowest scores and finished 5 under as a team. Hawaii Pacific was second finishing at 25 over par and Chaminade placed third at 47 over.
Stulce had the top score on the second day shooting a 2-under 70 to finish the 36-hole tournament in third place at 1 under par. Herrera matched his 1-under 71 score in round one over the final 18 holes to finish at 2 under for the tournament, the second best individual score.
Junior Dalton Stanger also shot under par on the final 18 holes with a 1-under 71 and finished tied for fourth at 1 over for the tournament. Senior Federico Clausen was golfing unattached, but tied Stanger and Hawaii Pacific's Phillip Simpson for fourth at 1 over par. Freshman Dillon Dudley was the final man competing for the Seasider squad. He finished the day at 1-over 73, placing ninth with a 36-hole score of 7 over.
BYU-Hawaii will head next to El Paso, Texas, to participate in the Stockton Cactus Thaw from Feb. 13-14 at the Lonestar Golf Club.
