TURTLE BAY, Hawaii – Sophomore Jacob Godfrey got BYU men's golf off to a good start Wednesday in the BYU-Hawaii Tri-Match at the Fazio Course.
Godfrey led all golfers with a 3-under 69 in the opening round and BYU-Hawaii finished with a team score of 1-under 287. Hawaii Pacific was nine strokes behind at 8 over and Chaminade was a distant third at 21-over 309.
Senior Nicolas Herrera also came in under par at 1 under over the first 18 holes. Senior Alex Stulce added a 2-over 74 for the Seasiders. Freshman Dillon Dudley was the last of the five-man team with a 6-over 78, while senior Federico Clausen participated unaffiliated and ended at even par.
BYU-Hawaii will be back in action tomorrow on the Arnold Palmer Course at Turtle Bay Resort for the final 18 holes.
