ST. GEORGE, Utah – Alex Stulce led BYU-Hawaii men's golf to a third place finish in the final round of the PacWest Conference Championships at Sunbrook Golf Course on Wednesday.
The Seasiders had the second lowest team score on the final day of action with a 12-over-par 300 to surge into a tie with Cal Baptist with a 35 over for the tournament. Dixie State won the championship at 13 over par, two strokes ahead of Dominican.
Stulce shot a 1-over 73 in the final round of action to move into a tie for 20th place overall at 14 over for the tournament. Teammate Nicolas Herrera shot his second straight 2-over 74 to move into 13th place with a score of 9 over after 54 holes.
Zane Loveland was unaffected by his worst day of the tournament with a 3-over-par 75, finishing in fourth place at 2 over for the tournament. Loveland was one stroke behind second place. Matthew Jensen finished 18 over par after three consecutive rounds of shooting 6-over-par 78. Jensen finished 28th in the field of 49 golfers.
Inoka Kahawaii was right behind Jensen with a score of 21 over for the tournament to tie for 30th.
The Seasiders will wait to see if they can move into the top 10 in the West Region for a chance to participate in the NCAA Division II Championships from May 18-22.
