ST. GEORGE, Utah – Zane Loveland led BYU-Hawaii men's golf to a fourth place finish after the first day of the PacWest Conference Championships on Monday at Sunbrook Golf Course.
The Seasiders finished with a 12-over-par 300, two strokes behind Cal Baptist for third place. Dixie State leads the field with a 2-under 286 for the day, while Dominican is close at their heels with a 1 under par.
Loveland finished even par through the first 18 to tie for seventh, five strokes behind Dominican's Drew Nelson for the individual lead. BYU-Hawaii's Alex Stulce was one stroke behind Loveland with a 1-over 73 to tie for ninth overall in the individual rankings.
Nicolas Herrera was third for the Seasiders and tied for 23rd individually at 5 over, while Matthew Jensen was one stroke behind him with a 6-over 78 to tie for 25th overall. Inoka Kahawaii rounded out the squad of five for BYU-Hawaii with a 7 over par to finish the day in 29th place individually in the field of 49 golfers.
BYU-Hawaii will continue competition tomorrow.
