Seasiders in ninth after day one in Riverside

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Alex Stulce led BYU-Hawaii men's golf to a ninth place finish with a 27-over-par 603 on the first day of the Cal Baptist Lancers Invitational at Eagle Glen Golf Club.

Seasiders finished in the ninth spot comfortably ahead of Hawaii Pacific by seven strokes. Simon Fraser held the top spot in the invitational with a 5-over-par 581. Sonoma State placed second of fifteen teams at 10 over and Dixie State was third at 12 over

Stulce finished even par through the first 36 holes to tie for fifth individually in the field of 82 golfers. Stulce shot a 2-under 70 in the second round and finished the day with eight birdies.

Matthew Jensen had the second highest score for the Seasiders at 7 over to tie for 31st in the individual rankings. Inoka Kahawaii was close behind with a 9-over 153 and 44th place in the field. Nicolas Herrera shot a 13 over par and Federico Clausen was 16 over after the first day.

BYU-Hawaii will wrap up competition at the invitational tomorrow in preparation for the PacWest Championships.
