LIVERMORE, Calif. – Nicolas Herrera led BYU-Hawaii men's golf to a fourth place finish with a 20-over-par 884 at the NDNU Argonaut Invitational at Poppy Ridge Golf Course.
The Seasiders finished even par in the final round of play to jump Sonoma State in the team standings. CSU Monterey Bay won the invitational with a 4-under 860. Dominican placed second in the field of 18 teams at 13 over and Simon Fraser was third at 15 over.
Three Seasiders finished in the top 25 of 92 golfers. Herrera led the way with a 4-over-par 220 during the three round tournament to finish 12th in the individual rankings. Herrera shot 2 under in the second round.
Matthew Jensen tied for the lowest single-round score of the tournament with a 4-under-par 68 in his final 18 holes. Jensen tied for 14th in the individual rankings with a 6 over for the tournament.
Inoka Kahawaii was the final golfer for BYU-Hawaii in the top 25, finishing 24th at 8 over par through all 54 holes. Alex Stulce was just one stroke behind Kahawaii at 9 over, placing 27th. Zane Loveland rounded out the five man team for the Seasiders with an 11-over 227 to finish 36th.
The Seasiders will wrap up their regular season at the Cal Baptist Tournament beginning March 23 in Riverside, California.
