LIHUE, Hawaii – Inoka Kahawaii led BYU-Hawaii men's golf to an 23-over-par 311 on day one of the John Burns Intercollegiate at the Wailua Golf Course.
Kahawaii finished at 3 over par on the day to tie for 39th. Kahawaii was tied for seventh playing even on the par-3 holes.
Matthew Jensen had the second best score for BYU-Hawaii with a 6-over-par 78 through 18 holes. Jensen was consistent throughout the day tying for the fifth most pars in the field of 93 golfers.
As a team, the Seasiders finished above four Division I schools on par-5 holes shooting 2 under par. Alex Stulce led the team at 2 under par on such holes, while teammate Nicolas Herrera was 1 under par. Both golfers finished with a 7-over-par 79 to tie for 77th on the day.
Federico Clausen rounded out the field of five for BYU-Hawaii with an 8 over with two birdies and seven pars.
