Turtle Bay, HI—The Brigham Young University-Hawaii men's golf team claimed 16th place today at the John Burns Invitational at the Turtle Bay Resort Palmer Course. The Seasiders were one of only two NCAA II teams competing in the Division I tournament hosted by the University of Hawaii.
Scott Pickering turned in the best score for the Seasiders at the three-day event. Pickering tied for 61st place with a score of 80-78-76—234, 18 strokes over par on the par-72 layout. Colten Lamb tied for 62 at 235 while Dillon Dudley and Jake Wagstaff both finished at 242 for the Seasiders to tie for 76th place and round out the team scoring. Trevor Gosar finished at 246 for the Seasiders as the team finished at 946 for the tournament.
The University of California won the tournament with a score of 850, 14 strokes under par. The Golden Bears' Joel Stalter took home medalist honors with a 12-under score of 204.
BYU–Hawaii will be back in action on March 13 in a Tri-match with Hawaii Pacific and Chaminade at the Turtle Bay Resort Fazio course.
