NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (Mar. 6, 2014) - Three members of the BYU-Hawaii men's basketball team, DeAndre Medlock, Scott Friel and Pablo Coro all earned spots on the 2014 All-PacWest Men's Basketball Teams announced Thursday.
A senior center, Medlock was named to the second team, while Friel and Coro earned third-team honors.
Medlock leads the PacWest in field goal percentage at 67.9 percent and fifth nationally. The 6-10 senior is BYU-Hawaii's career leader in field goal percentage. He averages 12.6 points per game to lead the Seasiders, while pulling down 5.2 rebounds per game.
Friel, a sophomore, was a double-double machine, notching eight of them on the season. He is scoring 11.9 points per game with 7.0 rebounds, eighth in the PacWest. He is shooting 54.1 percent from the field, good for No. 13 in the PacWest, and is currently ninth in steals per game (1.3) and 22nd in assists per game (2.3).
The junior, Coro, has been a 3-point specialist for years, knocking down 62 of 141 attempts for 44 percent, sixth in the league while averaging 12.2 points. He has had eight games with at least four makes from downtown, including a career best 7 of 10 night vs. Azusa Pacific.
BYU-Hawaii plays Chaminade in the opening round of the PacWest Tournament Thursday at 3:15 p.m. PST.
