IRVINE, Calif. – BYU-Hawaii swept this week's PacWest Tennis Players of the Week as Simon Guillin and Dallas Zhang received the weekly honor for their play last week.
Guillin led No. 26 BYU-Hawaii to a 3-1 record in Kona to open the 2017 season. Guillin was 3-1 in singles, winning twice at No. 4 and once at No. 5. He was also 3-1 at No. 2 doubles with partner Guillermo Ucelay Pueyo. He recorded two points in a 6-3 loss to No. 13 UC San Diego with an 8-2 doubles win and a straight-set win at No. 5 singles (6-2, 6-0).
Zhang led No. 2 BYU-Hawaii to four wins to open the 2017 season, with the Seasiders posting three sweeps and a 6-3 win over No. 22 Sonoma State. The second-ranked singles player in the nation won 48 of her 59 games in four matches, and posted a straight-set victory over No. 9 Jensyn Warren of Sonoma State (6-1, 6-4). In doubles, she paired with Leah Heimuli, her third partner in as many years, to win 32 of 34 games in four matches. Zhang has won 39-consecutive singles matches and 27-consecutive doubles matches.
