IRVINE, Calif. – BYU-Hawaii's Alanna Anderson and Caeleb Roney were each named PacWest Freshman of the Week for their respective sports as selected by the conference office for games played Feb. 6-12.
It was the first honor for Anderson as she opened her collegiate softball career with a .583 average (7-12) in her first four games. She recorded at least one hit in all four games and stole four bases in six attempts. She did not commit an error playing three different positions, catching two runners stealing from behind the plate. She was 3-for-3 with two runs and two stolen bases in the second game of a doubleheader with Western Washington. She drove in her first-career run with a double in the second game against Simon Fraser.
Roney earned his second weekly honor of the 2016-17 men's basketball season. He averaged 9.0 points and 8.5 rebounds over two games. He had eight points, a career-high 11 rebounds and two steals against Concordia. He then had 10 points and six rebounds in 22 minutes against Hawai'i Hilo.
